Location: Flint, MI


Job Type: Full-Time


Pay Rate: Based on experience


Shift/Hours: Available to work Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm


Job duties may include:




  • Knowledge of CMS documentation guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS.




  • Access carrier websites for claim status and verification of coverage.




  • Review encounters for correct level of service, physician documentation and proper CPT and ICD-10 CM assignment.




  • Knowledge of insurance and governmental programs, regulations and billing processes.




  • Attends seminars on regular basis, make recommendations for revisions and/or new procedures under the direction of the Professional Billing Manager.




  • Works with clinics and/or physicians to resolve coding issues.




  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, patients, third party payers and all customers.




  • Participates in special projects.




  • Monitor account receivable reports, identify trends, research and appeal denied claims.




  • Performs other related duties as assigned.





Job Requirements:




  • High School Diploma or GED




  • Three years of professional medical billing experience




  • Associates Degree preferred




  • Knowledge of Occupational Health billing preferred




  • EMR system experience




  • Familiarity with CMS medical documentation guidelines for reimbursement in a healthcare setting.




  • Proficient in the use of ICD-10 and CPT coding materials.




  • Knowledge of coding policies and procedures, reimbursement practices




  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.




  • Ability to use computer, calculators and other equipment.
